Shaw Earthworks decided to bid a job larger than they have ever completed before. The Intersection Improvements job located at the intersection of Brackett Road and Libby Avenue in Gorham went out to bid on June 1st, 2011. Shaw Earthworks had four employees going in to the spring. When we were awarded the job we had to grow, adding seven full-time employees to our payroll. The project consisted of reconstruction of approximately 400 feet of roadway in each road leading into the intersection. There was extensive re-grading and elevating of the site.
The roundabout has improved safety at what was considered one of the state’s most dangerous intersections. Shaw Earthworks completed the job ahead of schedule and under budget.
